2023: A visit to The Analogues in the Liederhalle Stuttgart / Germany

The writer of these lines was 14 years old when The Beatles released their singles “She Loves You” and “I Want To Hold Your Hand”. There had never been anything like this before. The Beatles’ music, their outfit, their haircut, all of this was new and was the beginning of what would later be called Beatlemania.

So he grew up listening to the music of The Beatles in the radio and bought their albums, sometimes together with friends because there was a lack of money.

To him, the 1960s were characterized by the music of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Who and The Kinks, to name just a few of the countless bands who dominated this decade with their music.

He never saw The Beatles live on stage, but in 1968 he was lucky enough to see The Rolling Stones perform at the Westfalenhalle in Dortmund. He particular liked Brian Jones playing the dulcimer in “Lady Jane.”

In the early 70s he liked the music of Elton John, as well as (only) three tracks from Lennon’s Album Imagine (Imagine, Jealous Guy and Crippled Inside) and McCartney’s first solo album.

In the late 70s he was fascinated by Dire Straits and Pink Floyd, in the 80s he liked some of Queen’s stuff.

In the early 90s he was lucky enough to attend a gig with Paul McCartney and band. At this point Linda was still part of the band.

In the new millennium, the number of new bands that influenced his musical taste continued to decrease. Perhaps this was due to increasing age.

He first met The Analogues in the 2010s when they toured Germany with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band.

Don’t call The Analogues a Beatles cover band. They are so much more.

Thanks to Felix Maginn and the management of The Analogues, he had the opportunity to attend the rehearsal and the show on October 10, 2023 in Stuttgart to make photographs (and listen to the music).

And now have fun looking at the photos.
